Can I finish something, please?

Well, yesterday was a beautiful day here in MA - just gorgeous weather and a perfect day to take a friend to a bunch of places she has never seen...

Spark Crafts in Davis Square
Mind's Eye Yarns in Porter Square
A Good Yarn in Brookline Village - with a stop at Baja Betty's for an enormous super-yummy burrito
And finally, she took me to Butterfly Yarns in Wakefield where I had never been

No knitting to be had, but I did pick up a drop spindle and some wool at Mind's Eye, a couple of really cool tab books at Sparks, some black & red Bazic Wool (no, not Bazzill paper, we're talking yarn here) for a cap to be started once this is finished (Morticia is helping me hold this to show you):

It's a scarf-to-be for Mom - trying to finish it before this weekend so I can give it to her for her birthday.

Next - I think I'm almost finished with the "never ending daffodil sock" - and yes, this is only the first one! But, it is, afterall, my first-ever sock...

I love Lucy's hand dyes - once my Daffodil Socks are done, I'll be immediately casting on a lovely rose yarn that she put into my hand the other day when I walked into the shop - what a beauty (and I wish that I could show it to you, but Blogger just won't let me upload the pic)! I was just happy to be able to buy SOMETHING from her since the Yarn Harlot keeps mentioning her on her blog and wiping her out! Oh, speaking of the shop - I did meet Wanda - what a sweetie - and yes, she is all head!

The Mugsy Hat...

It's finished! I spent pretty much the whole day working on this - in and out of the Michigan Race (kinda boring), caught up on Eureka for the week and then the end of Battlestart Gallactica Season One... luckily the 1st half of Season Two should be here in a few days! But this is what I finished - my first thing for my DH...

Now it's time to get working on my first two pairs of socks - need to visit Lucy in the Shop (www.mindseyeyarns.com) on Wednesday to get a little help on her toe-up pattern. With any luck there will be some more yummy sock yarns to look at (and maybe pick up) too!

TTFN!

Sock update... hey, I learned Magic Loop!

Last week at our Thursday night knitting group, Paula taught Laurie & I how to Magic Loop it - it is SO COOL! I ended up swapping my yummy Daffodil Sock #1 over to the loops to keep it moving and it's going much faster... and I think it's almost time to hit my first heel...

My second set of socks is a bit behind at the moment, but I do have a few days off next week with lots of knitting time planned in...

Finally, what I'm going to have to call my DH's Mugsy Hat is also on the needles. The yarn really does look just like him...

Check it out...

He's cute for an old man (he just turned 12 in June). Actually it looks even more like him when he doesn't have his summertime haircut!

Off to the eye doc to try out contacts again...

Sock 1, Day 1

OK, so I saw this Daffodil hand-dyed sock yarn at Mind's Eye Yarns a few weeks ago... and then I went back and it was still there... and there goes my curiosity... socks? Me? Huh? I'm new... can I do it?

Well, I decided to give it a try. So, with Lucy's Toe-Up Sock Pattern, a set of size ONE doublepoints and that yummy daffodil sock yarn in hand I embarked on a new adventure this afternoon. Yes, I did rip it out and start over 3 times - who hasn't done that before? This is how far I got:
