FInally - see, I have been busy!

So, I have been busy knitting and not blogging lately - I finished the 3 dishrags for my friend at work (the colors on my camera are so dark - definitly need to replace it soon!):

And another "sophie with a flap" that's ready to go into the land of felt-ness (yes, another gift!):

And my first MDK bib - which, of course, I couldn't just do like they say - had to do the stripy thing here:

The last thing is what I cast on last night, have a few ideas - I loved this new Galway yarn (same as the pink bag above, but this is blue & purple - cause you know a girl needs all colors!). I think I know what I'm doing... pattern free:

So the big plan is to take my Mind's Eye Yarns virgin friend there after work tomorrow night - not sure what we'll buy, but I'm sure that Lucy will have something new and exciting... especially after her dyeing event this week!

Update... busy, busy times!

Haven't been here but I have been knitting! The blanket is coming along - good thing because Morrison Michael Sachs arrived on Father's Day.

More to come!!!

Log Cabin Baby...

Well, not quite there yet, but I've gotten a bit done on my cousin's baby blanket - design from Mason-Dixon Knitting and the yarn choice - Knit One Crochet Too fleece - was suggested by Jean at A Yarn Over Marblehead. This is a bit challenging with this yarn - had to do lots of sewing in the other night because they were driving me CRAZY!

The question is - is the baby here yet???

Mmmm... Hot Lips & Apricot Ice

OK, so I whipped up another Sophie Bag - this time adding a flap on the front with a buttonhole - just what kind of button should I use? Guess I'm in for a trip to Windsor Button after work next week...

This was made with the Wonderful Wool Hot Lips & Apricot Ice that I picked up at the Mind's Eye Yarn sale last week - ran back in for more on Saturday and now I have plenty of "extras" for some other fun projects.

Here is the before:
and

Yes, I was so scared - just how will those picked up stiches work? Not sure... and then... this is what I got when I pulled it out of the washing machine:

and

The interesting thing was that the Apricot still showed the stiches and the Hot Lips (great name, huh?) was nice and felty... after much consultation at work, I'm going to keep it that way. YEAH! A fun summer bag that will go with so much more than the cute red & yellow one...

Next project? I think I'll try a few felted boxes since I have plenty of wool left...

Ink & Paper Day

Finally, I got some inky fingers yesterday - and it was preppy, preppy, preppy! All green and pink and no black, just brown ink. I had fun and here were some of the things I created yesterday:

Next I'm going to try to do something with those little stretched canvases that I have in my stock... once the Hot Lips & Apricot Ice altered Sophie Bag is done... I'm one of those people who make a recipe once and then tweak that heck out of it!

Is it time for me to enter this world?

Well, I guess it's time for me to join along in the fun. I read and read and read - and then I knit and stamp and cut paper. I have been stamping for 3 years this month (thanks to a friend who gave me one set of SU stamps and then I just "had to have" a demo - oh, please teach me how to heat emboss... it was all over from there). Then, just a few weeks ago my coworker said, "hey, do you want to take this beginner's knitting class in Marblehead with me?" Sure - why not?

So, I headed over to A Yarn Over Marblehead (which is now on Altantic Avenue) a few days before the class started, you know, just to check it out and see what I'd need for supplies. Jean, the owner took such good care of me - introducing me to the wonderful world of wool.

About 5 skeins and 2 weeks later I had this great scarf and roll bottom hat that I had made - yes, I made it!!! OH NO... now I'm hooked - next project? And the next? Of course I had to felt - Laurie has been teasing me with her oh-so-cool felted bags that were just "so easy" - yeah, right! Well... since Jean was having a sale there happened to be some cool red & yellow Manos del Uruguay - she said it would felt well... and my first Sophie was born!

And when it came out of the washer (yes, it was terrifying!) Oliver just had to check it out:

Now it's time to get some ink on my fingers - gotta make some sample Thank You cards. We'll see how that goes... I have been knitting so much lately that I hope I can remember how to stamp!
